4th of July

I have to post this pictures because it was such a fun weekend. Melanie, Will, Sarah and Jon came out for the 4th of July weekend. So much fun! We ate, and ate and ate and also hung out with Sofia while trying to not die from the nasty Chicago heat/humidity. Surprisingly, we've never actually seen the fireworks in Chicago- we heard that there weren't going to be any city run fireworks this year due to the major debt Chicago is in so we took a chance, walked down to the harbor by us that has a view of the city and Navy Pier. There was really no one there! We got a front row seat on the grass and saw awesome fireworks from the pier. Sofia was not such a huge fan (is that really surprising?) since people had their own fireworks along the harbor that they shot off so we kept her in our baby carrier and she fell asleep pretty quickly. Here's some of the best pictures:

Outside Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinders- ridiculously big pizza pies and sandwiches!

we've discovered Sofia loves sleeping in the Bjorn in very loud restaurants. We're just afraid one of these days some food will fall in the open mouth!

Down at Millenium Park for a Latin outdoor concert. The music and picnic food were fantastic and the view of the city skyline was gorgeous.  Now it's funny looking back that we got caught in a monsoon soon after this picture. We were completely unprepared... the sky went black and everyone was running as the sky opened up and down poured. We were running with Sofia in the buggy and the rain hitting our face so hard we could barely breathe or see. We finally took shelter in a Walgreens along with everyone else. When there was a break in the storm we took a cab home just in time to miss the walnut sized hail hit our home (I thought for some crazy reason kids were throwing rocks at the building!). All in all, a hilarious memory!

With Auntie Sarah- adding layers and an adorable bonnet!

Everyone out to brunch (I didn't know I was in the picture).
